Tacony Manufaturing - The Evolution of the Vacuum

The Direct Air System
In the beginning (1907), there was air flow and lots of it. In original vacuum cleaner designs, the motor was placed at the bottom of the machine, right by the carpet. This gave it tremendous drawing power for carpet cleaning. But it lacked sophisticated filtration and a design that would allow for powerful attachments. The soft-bag style vacuums just wouldn't do, so a new kind of motor system was invented.

The Clean Air System
Attachment power took hold in the early 80's with the hard-body style uprights featuring the clean air system, where the motor is placed after the vacuum bag. The defined air path provides the suction needed for on-board tools and the opportunity for filtration but left effective carpet cleaning behind. The world needed more!

The Tandem Air System
The next generation of vacuum cleaners was born in 2004 when Tacony engineers took the best of both previous systems and combined them to create a machine that works like no other. The Tandem Air system uses a direct air motor and a clean air motor - in tandem - to create the first and only vacuum cleaner to provide exceptional carpet cleaning, advanced filtration and the convenience of on-board tools in one machine.
